Hey, I was planning to do a similar route, but next year. If you are writing a journal online or anything, I'd love to read about your trip.

Cycling north

Hi Jeff, thanks for your reply.I do have a blog, its at andypettitt62.wordpress.com.Are you planning on riding through S E Asia from south to north or the other way round?I am heading north as I started my trip in New Zealand, but it could be worth checking out the various monsoon seasons as they vary from country to country.I am also hoping to spend the northern winter in the tropics and hit the temperate countries ( Japan, Korea and northern China) in the northern Spring before hitting Alaska for their Summer.I take lots of photos as I believe people get bored readeing blogs but are happy to look at photos.Cheers Andy

Hi paco, many thanks for getting back to me.I am definitely planning on heading through the Philippines so will try and make my way to your city ( or island).I will get in touch nearer the time ( probably) in around 3 or 4 months when I get to Borneo, and you could maybe give me some tips and advice on places to go and see in the Philippines.I have a blog also if you want to see my progress. Its at andypettitt62.wordpress.com.Cheers Andy

Very cool, I'll follow along, thanks! I will be flying to Brisbane 2-3 months from now, and then spending up to a year in Australia, depending on the seasons and whatnot, which I haven't researched yet. I was planning to end up in Darwin and then fly to either East Timor or Bali (whatever's easier/cheaper) and then working my way through all the SE Asian countries, and eventually across Asia to Europe and Africa. I rode from northern Canada down to South America several years ago, so you may get some use out of my blog, http://jksa.cgoab.com, if that's your plan as well. Keep crankin'!

I will definitely check your blog out.Australia and NZ are great countries, both very defferent from each other.Aussies and Kiwis are awesome people, probably a bit like Canadians in being super friendly and helpful with a nice chilled attitude to life. You can pick up lots of seasonal work in both countries in the agricultural sector ( mostly fruit picking) which is a great way to earn some money and meet lots of similar minded people. The fruit picking season in NZ is from January onwards, in Oz you have the tropical north so there is usually something in season.Brisbane is a great base also, nice climate, and just big enough for there always to be something happening.Let me know if yopu need any more tips/advice.Cheers Andy
