Hello! Its always been a dream of mine to ride across the vast expanse that is America. I've been riding daily in preparation, and re-gearing my bike for longer distance travel.
I'm located in West LA, and plan to take a train up the coast to Seattle/Bellingham/Vancouver? and probably go down into Oregon from there, namely to visit crater lake. I would like to work on farms along the way for two to three weeks at a time.
The northern tier will comprise most of my route, riding to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, to ferry back to the mainland, visit relatives, then carry on across the Erie through New York and down the coast. My home of homes is near Washington DC so I'll probably crash there for a while/potentially the end of the trip. I have experience in the wilderness as a backpacker and experience traveling abroad. Im pre-disposed to joy and laughter, but I can get cranky when Im hungry.
Can any one point me to a place where I can find cheap analog maps/gear (panniers, etc)? I looked in the for sale forum but didn't find anything promising. I pray the right eyes see this post and will guide me. Im aware of ACA (Adventure Cycling Association) maps but Im also on budget and would prefer to purchase/inherit maps rather than buy new ones.
I'll repost with more details as my plans take shape. Safe riding to all, and enjoy yourself!
