British Airways. Not the

British Airways. Not the cheapest airline but you can take your bike for free instead of the normal luggage. And you are allowed to take 2 handbags with you on the plane.
I put mine in the original cardboard box of the bike together with the rest of the bags. Worked out fine!

If you going to Indonesia you

If you going to Indonesia you can choose Garuda Indonesia Airways (it's a good one). You get 23 kg free sport equipment and 20 kg for baggage.

KLM

As a frequent flyer with KLM I can bring our two bicycles or tandem for free. I don't know the price if you aren't a frequent flyer. But there has never been any problem to bring them. A lot of airlines that we have asked doesn't allow tandems.
The only thing you need to think of when you go with a tandem is that the box never fit the bike. You need to use wrap plastic. Bring your own since the wrapping machines isn't big enough for tandems.

Maybe a little bit more info about tandems than you asked for, but maybe someone else need the info in the feature.

best airlines for bicycles

Depends where you're flying from. Qantas, Cathay Pacific, Emirates, Etihad all allow 30kg of luggage per person and will include bikes in that 30kg. I flew Sydney to Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan last year on China Southern and they allowed two bags of 20kg each.

I recently flew Asiana and had a great experience. No extra fee for a bike in a standard cardboard box, as long as it was under 23 kg and within the linear inch restriction, which was quite generous.

We have used Emirates, Qatar, Singapore, and Etihad, all give you 30kg per box. We loaded as much as we could into the bike boxes and had no problems at all. There is no linear limit, we just get old
boxes from bike shops.

Emirates

Last year, I went from Belgium to Taiwan with Emirates. When your luggage + bicycle weighs less than 30 kg, there are no extras to be paid, and this can be considered an intersting deal. I managed to do this on the way to Taiwan. However, on the return flight, my luggage + bicycle weighed 33 kg and I had to pay a serious fee for overweight!
