Error about password while saving edited profile

While saving your profile after editing it, you will get the error message 'The specified passwords do not match'. This is incorrect behavior as changing password (which includes confirming password) is not related tot updating the profile. Said this differently the website apparently checks the 'Password' and 'Confirm password' fields and as the second one is empty, it fails to save the updated profile. The workaround is to enter your password in the Confirm password field.

Very annoying

Yes, I've seen this, and it's very annoying. But it's not the fault of the website, at least if I understand you right.

Many browsers offer both form-filling and remembering passwords. Some of them try to fill in the password on the edit-profile page, but of course they don't fill in the "confirm password" field. And the result is that when you submit the form, the site sees that you changed one and didn't change the other. (When you don't want to change your password you must leave both blank... but the browser is "helping" you.)

So sadly I know of no way to prevent this behavior from our end. But you can change the form-fill or password-filling behavior on your browser (just for this page) and it will solve the problem.

Remove password from the page?

Thanks for the response Randy. I'll look into it.
I think though that -knowing how browsers work- password should not be on this page. That is something that you can influence... :)

Yeah,however, that's the way

Yeah, however, that's the way Drupal works (the underlying tech) and changing it won't make the agenda of a couple of guys who occasionally spend their spare time on development :-)
