Bike transport from Germany to France

Hello,

I want to send my bike from Germany to France to start my big tour from there. All forwarding companys I've asked propose real expensive transports (300-400€). Has anybody a solution for a cheap way to transport it from near Stuttgart to Saint-Nazaire?

Je veux faire mon grand tour et pour ca je veux envoyer mon velo a l'avance de Stuttgart a Saint-Nazaire. Les entreprises de transport que j'ai demandé sont très, très chèr (300-400€). Qui a une idee ou une solution moins cher?

How are you getting there

How are you getting there yourself?  Even though some express services won't take bikes, most other trains, even Intercity long-distance trains do - perhaps you could travel with the train and your bike?

More information is here - https://www.seat61.com/bike-by-train.htm

If you look at the Deutsche Bahn website (https://reiseauskunft.bahn.de) you can select (under "further details') only trains that will accept bicycles.  It's a long journey, probably requiring an overnight stop somewhere as France has got rid of most of its night trains, but should be comfortable and far cheaper than sending your bike seperately.

from Germany to France

Hi Robert, I've got a very cheap train ticket without bike to Nantes. TGV does not transport bikes in Germany (I start in Stuttgart) and in France you have in some TGVs none and in some just 2 places for bikes. If I take the TGV it takes me about 7 hours and if I take trains with a bike transport possibility it takes me more than 30 hours ....
