Please be aware that the current interpretation of the law in Costa Rica, limits our capacity to cycle on roads that have a speed limit at or above 80 kp/h. Although the law allows the use of these roads if there are no alternatives, the traffic police has nonetheless, seized bicycles. Organizations in Costa Rica are fighting this behaviour as it keeps us from being able to cycle in perfectly cyclable routes such as route 34, along the Pacific coast.

The current recommendation is to avoid these routes and use alternative transportation between towns.
