Anyone know how to fix a thermarest that has come unglued??

Hi there! Am mid way through a tour and the top layer of my thermarest (it isn't the brand Thermarest but is the same design) has started coming unglued, meaning that it balloons on one side and the rest of the mat loses air to the bubble... am really hoping not to have to buy another as they are pricey and this one has no other problems, no punctures etc. I wondered about some kind of glue that would sink through the top layer and re-bind the lattice thing to the cover. Anyone successfully done this or know what to buy?

If you know how to fix this please let me know!

Thanks,
Alice

I'm sorry to hear about that

I'm sorry to hear about that Alice. Search "Thermarest delaminate" - there have been heaps of people experiencing this problem. I've had the same problem with two Thermarests. The 1st was an old style one (~20 years old). It was replaced free of charge with virtually no-questions-asked while cycle touring in Belgium at a camping store, great service. They exchanged it for a very light model - my mistake. This second one started delaminating quickly after that, a few more bubbles each night, until 5 weeks later when it was virtually useless. I exchanged it back in Australia but the policy in Aus & NZ makes it much harder to exchange and took many weeks of emails & postage, very frustrating.

Ah cool - thanks for the tip

Ah cool - thanks for the tip about searching for 'delaminate' - unfortnately the mat is relatively old (6 years)... and I have no receipt or anything so can't get a replacement. Google search suggests cutting off the top layer, slathering it in glue then suturing it all back together... sounds quite drastic but worth a try if there's no other solutions from anyone??

I never had a receipt. The

I never had a receipt. The mats come with an original owner lifetime warranty, so receipt *shouldn't* be necessary, unless policy has changed since my replacements in 2011.
